About the Modes
CLASSIC MODE
Pressing the OPTIONS button during the opening demo will take you to the title screen. Pressing a button here will take you to the menu screen.
Arcade Mode
- This is a port of the arcade version and supports both horizontal and vertical ('tate') display modes.
- Normal mode consists of 6 stages and two loops. The game ends after the second loop. It can be played with two players, with a second joining in at any time.
- Time attack is for one player only.
Screen Select
Choose between horizontal and vertical display modes.
Game Mode Select
Choose between Normal and Time Attack modes.
Character Select
Here you will choose one of 5 characters to play the game.
Once you confirm your choice, the game will begin.
Arrange Mode
- This mode is an enhanced version of the arcade game with extra characters, stages and cut scenes.
- Normal Mode features 8 stages and ends in a single loop after the final stage is complete.
- Time Attack features the following three modes:
Practice: An endless stage for practicing scoring techniques. To finish playing, pause the game and select Return to Top Menu.
Stage 1: Basically the same as the arcade version's Time Attack, but allows Genesis-3 to be used.
Stage 2: A new stage with updated different enemy patterns and a longer timer allowing for even higher scores.
- Both Normal Mode and Time Attack are single player only.
- Only horizontal display mode is available here.
Game Mode Select
Choose between 2 types of Normal Mode (Story on/off) and 3 Time Attack stages.
Character Select
Choose a ship from the 6 characters available.
Once you confirm your choice, the game will start.
Option Mode
Change various game settings, check the music and sounds and watch cut-scenes.
Sound Test
You can listen to the voices, music etc. used in the game here.
Story Replay
You can watch any intermission you've unlocked in Arrange Mode here.
There are two types available: Heroes and Genius Yamada.
Game Config
You can change the following settings here:
- Lives
Change the number of lives you start the game with.
- Difficulty
Choose between 5 difficulty levels.
- Auto Bomber
When turned on, a bomb will automatically be dropped just before you die to protect you.
* Only works if you have a bomb.
- Suicide Bullets
Turn bullets fired by defeated enemies on or off.
